Women’s Day Divas Unite Concert at the Cape Town City Hall
Celebrate exceptional South African women at this wonderful Women’s Day orchestral affair
The Divas Unite Concert, which takes place on Sunday, 9 August 2015 at the Cape Town City Hall, is what Women’s Day should be all about: celebrating women.
Sponsored by Pongrácz, a very special selection of women will play in an all-female version of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, which will accompany some of South Africa’s foremost female artists.
On the bill are singers such as Zolani Mahola from Freshlyground and SAMA award-winning pop-group Sterling EQ. Attendees can anticipate an all-star female cast, with additional singers including famed sopranos Magdalene Minnaar and Zanne Stapelberg. Keep an ear out for the formidable vocals of 23-year-old opera singer Noluvuyiso Mpofu, along with Judy Page and her daughter Kim Kallie. Rounding off the performance will be San Souci Girls High School representing the Sing the Change initiative, which utilises song-writing and performance for community and youth empowerment.
Not only will this concert be the perfect opportunity to admire the talent of South Africa’s women, but the proceeds from the night also go towards Project Flamingo, which is a charity that facilitates the early treatment of breast cancer for women who may otherwise not be able to afford adequate care.
