Cape Town spellbound with Valentine under the STARS
On Valentine’s evening, the Cape Town City Centre became spellbound with the sound of love and romance during the Valentine under the STARS concert, taking place for the second time within the Castle of Good Hope.
In this unique concert under the Cape Town night sky with Table Mountain as a backdrop, guests were entertained with magical and beautifully conducted performances from The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Magdalene Minnaar and Selim Kagee, and brought to tears with a unique performance from the Sing the Change choir, an initiative that empowers youth via music and the arts.
The sold out concert began with various classical hits such as La Garde Montante & Chanson du Toréador, What a Wonderful World and Quando m’en vo, and later the audience was singing and applauding to ‘classic-meets-pop’ hits such as Save the Last Dance for Me, Quando Quando Quandoand Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. A surprise addition to the evening was guest star Vicky Sampson who wowed the audience with her 1996 chart-topping hit Afrikan Dream, bringing all to their feet to dance in the courtyard and between their seats.
Host of Expresso and MC for the evening, Katlego Maboe won the hearts of all with his charm and the spectacular songs that he performed.
Guests were welcomed to the historical Castle of Good Hope with a glass of Graham Beck wine or MCC where they had the opportunity to mingle with fellow guests and indulge in sublime food. Lindt & Sprüngli were delighted to present an indulgent experience by introducing the LINDT Master Chocolatier pop-up station, the first of its kind worldwide. One of the highlights of the evening was the launch of the all-new and intricately designed Lexus NX. The meticulously crafted and luxurious NX is Lexus’ first turbo charged SUV.
